After carbonaceous chondrite hit the moon, some of the water could remain on its surface. Past observations have shown that exposure is considered to be almost the key factor influencing the appearance of water on the moon, as well as volcanic eruptions or solar wind.
According to the data of the research group, the collision with the satellite was recorded about a million years ago – this is quite a small period in comparison with the geological time scale of the Moon.
There is a high probability that carbonaceous chondrites are still a source of water on the moon.
