15:30, 23 February

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to Belarusian tractor engineering company MTZ on one of the most important milestones in the history of the company and the national machine-building industry - the production of the four-millionth tractor BELARUS, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“You have been writing the history of both your company and our country since 1946,” the head of state said. In his words, the first-millionth MTZ tractor was assembled in November 1972. Back then, the Belarusian company was one of three Soviet enterprises to hit this milestone. “Another milestone, the second-millionth tractor, came 12 years later. The three-millionth tractor rolled off the production line in another 11 years. Unfortunately, we had to wait another 27 years for the next milestone. That was not an easy time as modern, independent Belarus was establishing itself,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko praised the huge experience of the plant and expressed confidence in its bright future: “There is a great demand for BELARUS-branded products across the globe. Without our tractors, it is impossible to ensure food security of the planet.”

“Your team is a fusion of youth and experience, long-standing dynasties and traditions of winners, modern knowledge and driving ambitions. I am sure that the five-millionth tractor will not keep us waiting long,” the Belarusian leader stressed. He wished the company's staff strong health, wellbeing, new ideas and successes for the benefit of Belarus.
