Lukashenko offers condolences over death of Ebrahim Raisi

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent condolences to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei over the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi and a number of top-ranking officials, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state noted that Belarus was deeply saddened by the news.

“Outstanding representatives of Iranian people, renowned political and public figures have passed away. Their active work and resolute actions ensured the adequate international standing of the Islamic Republic of Iran and helped bolster the country’s high status in the international arena,” the message of condolences reads.

“President Ebrahim Raisi will go down  in history as a wise leader who devoted his entire life to selfless service to Iranian people,” stressed Aleksandr Lukashenko. “I will forever cherish very cordial memories of our meetings and conversations with Mr. President who was a true friend of Belarus and cared a lot about the development of Belarus-Iran cooperation. His name will be forever etched in the chronicle of bilateral relations.”

On behalf of Belarusian people and himself, Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed sincere condolences and words of support to the families and friends of the victims and to all Iranian people.
