We need to develop youth patriotic projects with Russia and other neighboring countries, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the open lesson "Historical memory - the road to the future" in Minsk on 1 September, BelTA has learned.

One of the participants of the Belarusian-Russian project "Memory Train" asked the head of state whether this initiative will be supported in the future.

"I welcome that. You got acquainted with what happened during the war and saw the battles on the mock-ups. You also communicated with your peers. This is very important. We lost this cooperation with Russia. So I'm all for it, but you need to grow. We will not cancel the Memory Train, it will continue traveling through Russia and Belarus,” the president said. “But we need to move on. Let that be the beginning. Go further in communicating with young people from Russia, and also Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and others. Let's arrange joint gatherings, meetings, sports events - there are many forms. Please pitch your ideas and we will consider them. I am sure that we will support them," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Speaking in general about youth projects, the president stressed that the authorities are ready to consider any initiatives, the main thing is that they should be useful.

The unique patriotic project "Memory Train" was initiated by Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko. It was dedicated to the Great Patriotic War and the Year of Historical Memory in Belarus. The train started on 22 June in Brest and completed the journey in Minsk on 3 July.
