Consulates General of Belarus and Russia in Shanghai held a joint celebration event to mark the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Shanghai.

Consul General of Belarus Andrei Andreyev said in his congratulatory address that no one can either force or persuade us to accept or forget the horrific killings, torture and mockery of our people. The Nazis and their ideological descendants should know that no crime has a statute of limitations and will remain unpunished, no matter where they are, whoever is behind them.

The Belarusian diplomat emphasized that today, when Nazism has once again reared its head, history is being rewritten, voices are being heard challenging our right to an independent peaceful life, our sacred duty is to follow the example of our fathers and grandfathers, who stopped the Hitler executioners and their allies and put an end to the horror of the worst crimes in human history.
