A wreath from the Embassy of Belarus was laid at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, in the run-up to the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, Deputies of the State Secretary of the Union State Aleksei Kubrin and Vladimir Amarin, Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Sergei Strelchenko, First Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Ivan Melnikov, representatives of integration bodies, the Belarusian diaspora, diplomats, public and political figures.

The participants of the ceremony laid flowers at the memorial plates Minsk Hero City and Brest Hero Fortress in the Alexander Garden and watched a march-past of the troops of the Preobrazhensky regiment.

“Belarus remembers everyone. Colleagues from the Russian Foreign Ministry said that a ceremony of this level is held only with the participation of Belarus," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi told reporters after the ceremony. “Belarus was one of the worst affected by the war. If we take the ratio of population to destruction and then to the volume of restoration work that followed after the Great Victory, our country was the worst hit in the USSR. Of course, we cannot forget the feat of every Soviet resident, every Soviet soldier who fought shoulder to shoulder on the battlefields. The Belarusian land is soaked in the blood of Soviet soldiers, who were representatives of all peoples. We remember everyone and we honor everyone!”
