In the change of generations it is very important not to destroy what has been created but to pass this period smoothly, preserving all the achievements of the sovereign Belarus, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he talked with the staff and builders of the Belarusian nuclear power plant on 7 November, BelTA has learned.

“There is a change of generations, whether we want it or not. I understand it more than anyone else. We do not need to break anything. Let us, as reasonable people, pass this period really smoothly. It is easy to break, but it will be very difficult or maybe impossible to restore. So let us not break, let us not rush into the whirlpool of these events,” the president said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the outgoing generation has something to be proud of. There are many achievements that are important for the country. “In the hardest conditions after the collapse of the Soviet Union, we became one of the space powers, together with our brothers Russians. Moreover, if Russians supply us, roughly speaking, with iron - a platform for space satellites, then all its intellectual content is produced in Belarus, and it is of the highest world level,” the president said.
Among the main achievements he also mentioned the development of a biotechnology corporation, a well-developed IT sector and modern agricultural production. “If Europe may collapse in terms of GDP up to 20%, we are doing our best now, in the difficult times, not to decline at all. If we do, it will be about one percent only. Agriculture saves us. Our agricultural sector has performed most efficiently during this period,” the head of state said.
“Leaving the politics and economy, our generation is proud to give you, a new generation, what has been achieved. The most important thing is that we pass on to our children and grandchildren a sovereign, independent country. For the first time in the centuries-old history we have our own state,” the Belarusian leader said.
