A meeting of special representatives of Belarus and Russia was held in Minsk to review the security situation on the borders of the Union State

According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry's website, the second meeting of special representatives of Belarus and Russia—Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Igor Sekret and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko - led their interdepartmental delegations, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on security guarantees within the Union State, took place in Minsk.

"The parties conducted a substantive review of the security situation on the borders of the Union State amid the ongoing militarization of EU and NATO member states, discussed practical aspects of implementing the provisions of the Union State Security Concept in the context of the Treaty on Security Guarantees, and exchanged views on countering illegal restrictive economic and financial measures," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The meeting participants confirmed the shared approaches of Belarus and Russia regarding current challenges and threats to the Union State's security, as well as ways to counter and combat them. They emphasized the importance of the Treaty as a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between Belarus and Russia to ensure the effective protection of the Union State. An agreement was reached to continue cooperation to implement the Treaty's provisions and to hold a follow-up meeting in Moscow this fall.
