St. Petersburg vice-governor praises Belarus' passenger vehicles for eco-friendliness

According to Kirill Polyakov, MAZ delivered about 900 gas-powered buses to St. Petersburg as the city was renewing its vehicle pool. The new gas buses have proved to be eco-friendly and efficient.

The St. Petersburg deputy governor also spoke highly of Belarusian trolleybuses. “Another type of Belarusian eco-friendly transport deserves special attention - trolleybuses with an increased autonomous run. They travel about 20 km without the overhead contact line, thanks to which they can pick up passengers from remote areas. People appreciate it,” he noted.

Belarusian buses account for 30% of urban passenger transport of St. Petersburg, the share of Belarusian trolleybuses exceeds 20%.

According to Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee Renat Yagudin, Belarusian passenger vehicles have earned a good reputation due to easy maintenance, environmental friendliness, comfort and design.

A reminder, the protocol of the meeting of the Belarus-St. Petersburg working group on industrial cooperation and joint innovative projects was signed in Minsk. The document was signed by Belarus' First Deputy Industry Minister - deputy head of the Belarusian part of the working group Aleksandr Ogorodnikov and St. Petersburg Vice Governor - head of the St. Petersburg part of the working group Kirill Polyakov.
