Union State Council of Ministers adopts Chernobyl recovery program

The Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State has approved a joint program for Belarus and Russia to address the lingering effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The relevant resolution has been published on the website of the Union State Standing Committee, BelTA has learned.

The document sets the total funding for the program for 2026-2030 from the Union State budget at up to RUB1,998,321,000, including up to RUB1,297,990,400 from the Russian Federation and up to RUB700,330,600 from the Republic of Belarus.
“Funding for the program in 2026, in the amount of up to RUB90,055,700 (the Russian Federation’s share - up to RUB58,716,000, the Republic of Belarus’ share - up to RUB31,339,700), shall be carried out in accordance with Article 6 of Decree No. 2 of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of 6 January 2026 On the Budget of the Union State for 2026 using the Union State budget surplus,” the resolution states.
The program’s state customers from Belarus are the Emergencies Ministry, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Healthcare Ministry, and the National Academy of Sciences.
