According to the ambassador, the governor of Astrakhan Oblast has visited Belarus on multiple occasions, the region is well aware of Belarus’ industrial potential, and Belarusian machinery is already successfully operating in the region’s agricultural sector. “Nevertheless, there is always something new and interesting emerging,” Yuri Seliverstov said, inviting the Astrakhan delegation to the upcoming INNOPROM. Belarus exhibition. He cited as an example the aerial ladders produced in Belarus for use by emergency services in cities with high-rise buildings - products that were previously purchased abroad.
Belarus and Astrakhan Oblast are actively cooperating in the transport and logistics sector. The diplomat also said he plans to visit the Port of Astrakhan during his trip. Igor Babushkin explained that the port’s investors are Iranian partners, and transit cargo shipments through the port have increased by 90% this year. Dredging work is underway at the port, and services at the port facilities are being upgraded.
The governor also said that an agreement had been reached on using products from Mogilev Elevator Plant in the region. “Already having positive practical experience with machinery from Mogilev, we have reached a good parity agreement,” he said.
The meeting also addressed the development of cooperation in agriculture and the humanitarian sector, including collaboration on patriotic youth education.
