Electric dump truck, drive batteries in projects implemented by Belarusian companies, Rosatom

Anton Yuspa stressed that the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was one of the largest projects in Belarus-Russia cooperation. At present there are over 65,000 electric vehicles in Belarus while the EV charging infrastructure is one of the most advanced ones in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Among the joint projects the deputy director mentioned shipments of the drive batteries Rosatom makes. “We also interact with BKM Holding Company. A project has already been implemented to ship trolleybuses with an increased autonomous range to St. Petersburg,” he said.

Rosatom participates in a project of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), which is developing an airport apron electrobus. Interaction with the Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ is another cooperation avenue. The parties are busy creating an electric haul truck.

Some of the projects involve electric cars. “We are working with the Energy Ministry to introduce stationary energy accumulation systems. Our goal is not only to supply equipment but to localize manufacturing as much as possible, and move to third-country markets together,” Anton Yuspa stressed.

The BelNPP – Clean Energy of the Peaceful Atom event is aimed at promoting Belarus’ achievements in nuclear power engineering, the role of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in developing eco-friendly segments of the economy, including electric vehicles. The event was organized by the Energy Ministry in partnership with the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom with support from the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Ostrovets District Executive Committee.
