Belarus and Russia's St. Petersburg will run a contest for joint sci-tech projects, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology.

A number of documents, including a road map for support of joint sci-tech projects for 2023-2025, were signed following a meeting of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and St. Petersburg.

“In modern conditions, the accelerated technological development of Belarus and Russia has no alternative. Therefore, within the framework of our cooperation it is important to carry out project activities aimed at ensuring technological and economic sovereignty. In this regard, the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Committee on Science and Higher Education agreed to hold a contest of joint sci-tech projects,” Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus Sergei Shlychkov.

The road map, signed at the 13th session of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and St. Petersburg, includes the events for the competitive selection of projects, their financing and result monitoring. The implementation of the road map will be coordinated by the Belarus-St. Petersburg working group in science and technology.

“We are confident that the launch of a mechanism to support joint projects will activate interaction between researchers and developers of Belarus and St. Petersburg and will make an important contribution to the development of bilateral sci-tech cooperation,” Sergei Shlychkov said.

In his words, St. Petersburg is the first Russian region, with which the project activity will be carried out directly. Before sci-tech cooperation was carried out mainly within the framework of the Union State program.
