In a decision announced by World Aquatics, the federation has confirmed that it's previous guidelines restricting athletes during political conflict will no longer apply to adult competitors holding Belarusian or Russian sporting citizenship. They are permitted to compete in aquaric sports events on equal terms with athletes from other nations and will be allowed to wear their national uniforms and have their flags and anthems without any restrictions.

Athletes with Belarusian or Russian sporting citizenship will only be eligible to compete after successfully undergoing at least four consecutive anti-doping tests conducted in partnership with the International Testing Agency (ITA), as well as a biographical data check by the Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQUI).
