The theme of the plenary session was patriotic education of young people as the foundation of state independence. Among the many youth patriotic initiatives, Natalya Kochanova highlighted the joint project of the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of Russia: the increasingly popular international initiative Memory Train.
“With each passing year, this patriotic project expands the geography of participating countries. In the inaugural 2022 journey, only young people from Russia and Belarus took part, while in 2025 the project already included representatives of 15 former Soviet republics that fought against Nazism during the Great Patriotic War,” she said.
In June, the patriotic train will set off along sites of military glory for the fifth time. “The qualifying stage of the I Am a Patriot of My Country contest, which grants the right to join the Memory Train, brought together more than 12,000 students from across the country,” the speaker added.
The II Youth Military-Patriotic Forum is taking place in Gomel on 6-7 May. The initiative comes from the Council of the Republic. The first forum was held in December last year in Minsk. This year’s event brings together more than 300 young people from different regions, including members of military-patriotic clubs and organizations actively involved in fostering patriotism.
