New import substitution projects may be discussed at the upcoming meeting of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Belarus’ Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov told journalists, BELTA has learned.

According to Aleksandr Yefimov, all issues in the industrial sector between Belarus and Russia have been resolved. “We are working on options to implement the next stage of investment projects, import substitution, integration in our country using capital from the Russian Federation. Perhaps this issue will be raised by the heads of state. At least, last week, after a meeting with my counterpart at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, we discussed the possibility of submitting this issue for consideration to the heads of state. We have agreed in principle on other issues,” the minister said.

A reminder, on 23 December Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko convened a meeting to discuss the state and prospects for mechanical engineering and announced his plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.

“I am having a meeting with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in just a couple of days. We will discuss all the issues that need to be discussed at our level,” the head of state said.
