Belarus to attend St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

The 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2024) will take place on 5-8 June, BelTA has learned.

Attending this year’s edition of the St. Petersburg forum, held annually under the patronage of the president of Russia, will be over 17,000 representatives of government and business from 136 countries.
Belarus will be represented by First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich, Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar, Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aleksei Bogdanov, Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov and other representatives of government and business organizations.
The forum is also expected to be attended by the leadership of international organizations and associations: CIS, CSTO, Eurasian Economic Commission, Union State, Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), African Union and others.
The theme of this year’s meeting is The Foundations of a Multipolar World – The Formation of New Areas of Growth. The forum events are grouped into four main thematic areas: Transition to a Multipolar World Economy, Goals and Objectives of Russia’s New Economic Cycle, Technologies for Leadership, and Healthy Society, Traditional Values and Social Development: The Priority of the State.
The official opening of the forum will take place on 6 June. The central event will be the plenary session with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is scheduled for 7 June. It is expected that the Russian leader will share his vision of the situation in the world economy and politics, and give an assessment of the Russian economy. In total, the SPIEF program provides for almost 400 business events: panel discussions, thematic round tables, business breakfasts, TV debates, and business dialogues.
