Lukashenko goes to church in Logoisk on Christmas

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko went to the temple of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Logoisk, Minsk Oblast on Orthodox Christmas, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will traditionally light a Christmas candle and will talk to parishioners and priests in the temple.

“This holiday is filled with love for God, righteousness, and compassion. It inspires deeds of mercy and calls for peace and harmony. Christmas fills our souls with joy and gives us hope for the fulfillment of coveted wishes,” reads the message of greetings from Aleksandr Lukashenko to Orthodox Christians.

The temple of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Logoisk was built in 1866. A healing spring can be found at the foot of the hill the church stands on.
