Over 70 Belarusian athletes qualify for Tokyo Games

A total of 74 athletes in 16 sports have qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said at the Olympic meeting of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus on 26 February, BelTA has learned.

“Seventy-four athletes in 16 sports have qualified for the Tokyo Games. The Olympic qualifying period resumed in November 2020 and will continue in some sports through late June 2021. The main task for now is to successfully complete the qualifying stage and compose a competitive Olympic team of Belarus. In some sports we will include into the national team those with the highest level of readiness for the Olympics. We plan to secure some 110-120 berths by the end of the Olympic qualifying period,” the minister said.
