On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has carried out extensive preparatory work and is implementing a set of preventive measures to ensure public safety. This was stated at a press conference by the head of the Main Department for Law Enforcement and Prevention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexander Kupchenya. He stressed that special attention will be paid to the prevention of crimes against life and health, strengthening control over persons registered with law enforcement agencies, as well as working out places with a mass stay of citizens published by Soyuz.by .

The speaker separately drew the attention of citizens to the intensification of the activities of Internet scammers who use the New Year theme for their criminal schemes, offering discounts, bonuses and gifts over the phone and in messengers. He called for a critical attitude towards such proposals and recalled that neither the police nor other government or commercial organizations ever require the transfer of personal data, bank card details, codes and passwords over the phone, and also do not ask to "declare" money and property.

To ensure law and order, the personnel of the internal affairs bodies have been transferred to an enhanced version of service during the holidays. Patrol units will be as close as possible to shopping malls, markets, New Year's fairs, nightclubs and other venues for festive events. The staff will work both in uniform and in civilian clothes, and the republican public safety monitoring system will be used to control the situation. Before the start of the events, all locations and adjacent territories will be inspected for safety.

Checkpoints with personal searches of citizens and their belongings using metal detectors are organized in the main places of mass celebrations. Kupchenya recalled the ban on bringing weapons, explosives, ammunition and a number of other items to mass events, the full list of which is posted on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and on special stands. To prevent crowding, citizens are asked to come in advance, take only what they need with them, be vigilant about the safety of property and use storage rooms. If unattended items or suspicious persons are found, they must be immediately notified by calling 102 or the nearest police station.
