The III Belarusian-Russian Tourism Congress will be held in Minsk from 8 to 10 April. Chairman of the Board of the Republican Union of Tourism Industry Filipp Guliy told about the issues to be discussed.

According to the speaker, the Minsk platform is in demand among professionals in the tourism business of the two countries. It is an opportunity to ‘synchronise watches’ and exchange opinions. The expert called the current situation in the tourism sector of the Union State a ‘growth crisis’: tourist flows are increasing, which means there is a need to develop infrastructure.

"The Congress will be held for the third time. When the logistical situation changed in 2022, sanctions problems, geo-economic difficulties were added, the markets went to meet each other as quickly as possible. It turned out that decision-makers, top management of both hotels and tour operators, travel agent networks, aggregators are not well acquainted with the products, the site, the distribution system and, even more so, with each other. That's why we need a business programme, networking," said Philip Guliy.

Last year the number of sections increased from five to 11, one of which - investment - was a trial. These issues will be given considerable attention at the Tourcongress. Emphasis will be placed on the analysis of already existing and well working directions for scaling up.

Among the innovations is a restaurant award. The top 100 best restaurants in Belarus will be named in Minsk. Specialists will also discuss the issues of service development, training of guides, tour guides, field instructors and guides.

In addition to business representatives, the plenary session will feature speeches by diplomats, deputies, ministry officials, as well as representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the banking sector. Filipp Guliy noted that one of the tasks of the organisers is to create new jobs in the future. Promotion of the Union State's tourism product in the markets of third countries will also be an important issue. Minsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg could become the basis for a combined tourist route. According to the Chairman of the RSTI Board, a large-scale nine-day trip to these cities would be of interest to both Chinese tourists and guests from India, the Middle East or the Gulf countries.
