"Belarus ranks 65th in human development among 193 countries with high human development," noted Yulia Berdnikova.

Regarding gender equality, Belarus ranks 28th out of 172 countries globally on this index, and 54th out of 148 countries on the gender gap index, the agency's official spokesperson reported.

She emphasized that Belarus places special emphasis on gender equality in all spheres of human life, also noting the symbolism of 2026 being designated the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

High positions in global rankings are linked to women's education levels, their participation in decision-making, and the situation in the labor market. Women account for over 50% of the country's employed population, and the employment rate for working-age women exceeded 85% by the end of 2025.
"Women shape human capital from the cradle," the speaker noted. She emphasized that March 8th isn't just a celebration of spring and attention; it's also a celebration of women's equality, opportunity, and self-realization.
