"Batya Minai. Partisan Legend": shooting of the Belarusian-Russian film about the war is planned to start in February 2025

Filming of the film "Batka Minai. Partisan Legend" is planned to start at the end of February 2025, said general director of the studio "VoenFilm", People's Artist of the Russian Federation, film director Igor Ugolnikov during the signing of the agreement on the production of the film, BelTA informs.

The Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk signed an agreement on cooperation and production of the film "Batka Minai. Partisan Legend" between the Moscow studio "VoenFilm" and the National Film Studio "Belarusfilm". Filming is scheduled to begin on 23 February.

"From this day begins active preparation not only on the selection of actors, but also on all production issues. The film will feature all 4 seasons, so there's a lot of work to be done, but I think we'll manage, as we are properly preparing for shooting," said the film director Igor Ugolnikov.

The film script has already been approved by the expert council of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus, the film has been supported by the Russian Cinema Fund and the Ministry of Culture of Belarus. 

The film crew will be assembled from the best professionals from Moscow and Minsk. Filming will take place mainly in Smolevichi, but several large battle scenes will be shot at the film studio in Moscow.

According to Igor Ugolnikov, the film should be released in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. "I hope in a year in November-December the film will be released. You can never talk ahead of time. Still, cinema is a living thing and depends on many circumstances. But our aspiration and plans are as follows," he explained.

Director General of the Belarusfilm National Film Studio Yury Aleksei noted that the film "Batka Minai. Partisan Legend" is an important step in the development of co-operation between Belarus and Russia in the film industry. "We will show how our country was fought and defended, as well as strengthen the friendship of the two states. It is very important to show the roots of the Belarusian people and the strength of the Soviet people as a whole. I believe that this is the most important strength and spirit of our country," Yuri Aleksei expressed his opinion.
