According to the Belarusian head of government, since the adoption of the declaration of sovereignty 33 years ago, Russia has achieved impressive successes in all spheres of life. “This period is also marked by the consistent development of Belarusian-Russian relations in the spirit of unbreakable friendship, mutual support for the benefit of the present and future generations. With a special sense of pride, I would like to note that the unique format for international relations - the Union State of Belarus and Russia - has become a driving force for the integration in the entire post-Soviet space. The algorithm of many processes that have been successfully tested in the format of the two states is widely used within the EAEU and the CIS format,” he said.
“Those who were trying desperately to reshape the system of international relations to suit them and in order to weaken us have once again failed. The joint quest for sustainable development pathways amid unfavorable external conditions has only emphasized the value of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, has given us energy in the development of industrial and technological cooperation, raised the coordination of positions at various international venues to the highest level, and ultimately made us stronger. All this helps us firmly defend our national interests and look into the future with confidence,” Roman Golovchenko said.
The results of trade and economic interaction speak for themselves. “Despite the difficult foreign policy situation and increasing illegal sanctions from the collective West, the trade between Belarus and Russia - the main measure of the success of trade and economic relations - is steadily growing. Last year, we got past $50 billion in mutual trade in goods and services, which is a record high figure. The positive trend remains this year as well. In January-April 2023 the mutual trade amounted to about $17 billion, up more than 20% compared to the same period last year,” the prime minister said.
Roman Golovchenko extended Day of Russia greetings on his own behalf and on behalf of the Belarusian government. “For Russians it is an especially important national holiday. It is a timeless symbol of national unity and shared responsibility for the present and future of the country. For Belarusians this day is a wonderful occasion to be sincerely glad for the successes of their allies in social and economic development, strengthening sovereignty and independence, and the achievement of strategic goals,” he stressed.
