Lukashenko announces plans to attend the Forum of regions in Nizhny Novgorod together with Putin

Belarussian president Aleksandr Lukashenko has announced plans to attend together with his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin the upcoming Forum of Belarus and Russia regions, which will be held in Nizhny Novgorod this year. He made this statment during his speech at the Federation Council, BELTA told.

"We have agreed with the President of Russia that we will definitely attend this Forum in person" - the head of the state informed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko is confident that the Forum of the Belarus and Russia regions in Nizhny Novgorod this year will be attended by a large number of participants and guests under the leadership of the Speakers of the Upper Chambers of the Parliaments Natalia Kochanova and Valentina Matvienko.
The belarussian leader also demonstrated the benefit of the Belarus and Russia union. He made those statments in his speech at the Federation Council during his official visit to Russian Federation.
The belarusian leader called economic cooperation the basis and showed some of the key figures for the last 25 years. During this period, GDP in nominal terms in Belarus has grown in more than 6 times, in Russia - 10 times; GDP per capita in Belarus has grown in almost 7 times, in Russia - 11 times; trade turnover has grown in 7 times and last year drew up to almost $60 billion. At the same time, despite the most difficult external conjuncture, the record key figures have been reached in the last three years - from 2022 to 2024.
"The most important thing is that the real incomes of citizens has grown significantly, the quality of their lives has improved. It means that this union is beneficial for our people in the first place" - the belarusian leader stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also emphasized that there are still many problems that need to be solve, and both parties are determined to do this.
