The withdrawal of Russian tactical nuclear weapons from Belarus is possible only in case the United States and NATO abandon the destructive policy to undermine the security of Russia and Belarus, head of the second department of the CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Polishchuk told RIA Novosti, BelTA has learned.

Alexey Polishchuk noted that the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus was a response measure to the long-term destabilizing nuclear policy by NATO and Washington and the fundamental changes that have taken place recently in key areas of European security.

According to the diplomat, this decision was a forced deterrent measure designed to ensure the security of the Union State. Therefore, the withdrawal of nuclear weapons from the territory of Belarus will be possible only if the United States and NATO change their destructive policy and completely remove U.S. nuclear weapons from Europe and eliminate the relevant infrastructure.
