An operational tactical exercise of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces will take place on 6-30 August under the leadership of Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces Mikhail Matrosov, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The exercise will include two stages. During the first stage formations and units of the aviation, air defense missile, and radio technology troops will practice providing anti-air cover to military units and secured facilities in the course of repulsing an aerial attack accompanied by maneuvering air defense missile units. During the second stage combat units of the air defense missile troops and the aviation component will relocate to the Russian military exercise area Ashuluk to participate in the active phase of the exercise that involves combat firing.

The exercise will test new ways and methods of using the units in compliance with requirements of modern combat operations. The units will also practice the combat use of new and modernized samples of weaponry, military and special hardware while dealing with active jamming and while fighting against high-precision means of destruction and strike drones.

“These steps will allow improving the level of training of commanding officers and staffs, their ability to control formations and military units in the course of combat operations while repulsing aerial strikes. It will also allow evaluating the ability and the readiness of military control bodies and the troops to carry out their missions,” a source in the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.
