Lukashenko to meet with SCO secretary general

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to meet with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, BelTA has learned.

“Last September, the decision was signed [at the SCO summit in Samarkand] to start the procedure for Belarus to become a member of one of the world's most influential organizations. All procedures are conducted in an accelerated format. The procedural nuances, Belarus' initiatives and the entire agenda will be discussed today at the Palace of Independence,” the Telegram Channel Pul Pervogo said.

Early on 9 March, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with Zhang Ming. He stressed that Belarus attaches great importance to cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and considers the association to be an important player in the system of international relations.
