Embassies of Belarus, Russia in Cairo celebrate Peoples Unity Day

The Belarusian embassy in Egypt jointly with the Russian counterparts hosted an event to mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Cairo.

The meeting was attended by citizens of Belarus and Russia living in Egypt, representatives of executive and legislative authorities of the country, businessmen, journalists, public figures and diplomats. An exhibition of paintings by Belarusian and Russian artists and a concert organized by the embassies and the diaspora made part of the celebrations.

Speaking at the event were the heads of the diplomatic missions of Belarus and Russia. In his speech, Belarus' Ambassador to Egypt Sergei Terentyev emphasized: “Belarus and Russia are demonstrating a unique model of building integration ties, which is unmatched in the post-Soviet space. It is a union of two sovereign states based on the unification of economic, intellectual and spiritual potentials, and mutual security.”

In his words, the goal of the union is to strengthen brotherhood and friendship, develop comprehensive cooperation, raise the standard of living and wellbeing of the two nations, and ensure sustainable social and economic development of the two states.

According to the diplomatic mission, the event had a wide positive response and was covered in the Egyptian media.
