The Belarusian president has good experience in negotiations and understands what to be wary of, because he has been in a situation where he was patted on the shoulder with one hand while a venal opposition was being formed with the other, historian Yevgeny Spitsyn said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel,BelTA has learned.

The expert emphasized that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko was one of the first to condemn the U.S. operation because he understands how negotiations are actually conducted and how many hidden pitfalls they contain. He has already been taught by the bitter experience of how various backroom deals were made. “With one hand they patted him on the shoulder, while with the other hand they formed this entire pro-Western, venal so-called opposition, which in reality are national traitors. And how they tried to overthrow him in 2020,” the historian said. “If that had come to pass, Russia would be in a far worse situation, infinitely worse than the actual outcome.”
He added that the Belarusian leader is a seasoned man and possesses one of the greatest levels of experience on the planet. “He has been at the head of the state, and thus in high politics, for more than 30 years. Such leaders on the world stage can be counted on one hand,” said Yevgeny Spitsyn.
