Economic growth both in Russia and Belarus is, among other things, the result of cooperation within the Union State, Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko told the media on the sidelines of the 16th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum which is currently underway in Samarkand on 3-4 November, BelTA has learned.

“As for the economy and people-to-people ties, we will follow the path of further integration. All this makes part of the Union State programs, which are being implemented. The fact that today both Russia and Belarus are showing economic growth and the overall optimism about their economies is the result of cooperation between the two countries within the Union State,” Alexander Grushko said.
He stated that the interaction between the foreign ministries of Russia and Belarus was always very constructive, despite the scale and complexity of the tasks.
“Cooperation with Belarus can be regarded in the most positive way. It will continue increasing in all areas, including, of course, in the foreign policy,” the deputy foreign minister said.
“We have the Union State, we have common interests in security, we coordinate our foreign policy priorities,” Alexander Grushko added.
The Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which traditionally gathers politicians, experts, diplomats, heads of major companies and journalists from the West and the East, has been held in Verona, Italy, for 14 years, even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, geopolitical realities forced the organizers to change the traditional venue of the forum. Last year it was held for the first time not in Italy, but in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This time Uzbekistan is hosting the forum.
The event is held under the motto “Economy of Trust and Business Diplomacy from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific” and will be an attempt to establish contacts between the East and the West. The forum is organized by the non-profit association Conoscere Eurasia (Italy) with the assistance of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
