Female entrepreneurship participation in Belarus stands at 36.4%, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said in an interview with BelTA.

"Today, the level of women’s engagement in entrepreneurial business activity in Belarus is at 36.4%. The global average is around 34.1%. For comparison, in the Russian Federation this figure reaches 40%, in Kazakhstan - 43.5%. This means we have room to grow " the minister noted.

According to him, the average portrait of a Belarusian woman entrepreneur is a city resident aged 20 to 49 years, with university or vocational college education.

"Most often women go into consulting business, advertising and marketing, the beauty industry, tourism, interior design and tailoring. However, the rapid development of information technologies has destroyed the stereotypical division of professions into male and female. Women entrepreneurs also achieve success in the areas that were traditionally considered male, such as cargo transportation, manufacturing and others," the minister said.
