Belarus, Russia amend agreement on parallel operation of power grids

A protocol has been signed in Moscow to introduce amendments and addenda to the Belarus-Russia intergovernmental agreement on ensuring parallel operation of the unified power grid of Belarus and the unified power grid of Russia that was adopted on 15 March 2011, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry.

The document was signed by Belarus' Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich and Russia's Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov.

The protocol is expected to improve the safety and reliability of parallel operation of the power systems, including through the provision of power reserves and mutual emergency assistance.
