Regular exchange trading of sheet glass produced by the Belarusian glass manufacturing company Gomelglass will commence at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) on 9 September, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

The products of the Gomel-based glassworks will be sold on the domestic market and for export within trading sessions for cement and aerated concrete blocks. The main goal of the joint project between BUCE and Gomelglass is to ensure the effective sale of glass products to Belarusian and foreign consumers in an open competition and through the use of the exchange's pricing mechanism.

The full range of sheet glass produced by the enterprise will be available for exchange trading, including laminated, tempered, energy-saving, and sun-protection glass. “This will attract the broadest possible category of buyers to the exchange and ensure the necessary concentration of demand at each trading session. As for export supplies, Russia is primarily considered the target market. At the initial stage, accredited companies with experience in purchasing building materials on the exchange platform will participate in the trades. Of course, in the future, as this commodity line develops, the pool of buyers will expand to include new participants, both residents and non-residents of Belarus,” the BUCE press service said.

Exchange trading of sheet glass will be organized in the BUCE section for promising exchange-traded commodities, where weekly trading sessions are currently held for the sale of cement, aerated concrete blocks, polymers and polymer products, lubricants, paper products, chemicals and petrochemicals. In January-August 2025, the turnover of this section amounted to Br369 million, which is up 17% in comparison with the same period last year.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004, with its first trading session conducted in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest mercantile exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its key function is to assist Belarusian companies with exporting their products and assist foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. The commodity exchange facilitates trade in metals, timber, agricultural products, and a broad choice of industrial and consumer goods.
