A limited edition of the “Ediny” travel card dedicated to the opening of the Rzhev Memorial will be released by the Moscow metro. The memorial project is being implemented by the Russian Military Historical Society, reports the RHMS website.

Themed tickets are expected to go on sale on January 20th, 2020. The circulation will total 400 thousand copies. On the front side of the travel card, designers displayed an image of the Rzhev Memorial, whereas on the back there are logos of the Russian Military Historical Society and the Victory Museum.

The Rzhev memorial complex in memory of all the soldiers of the Red Army is being erected on the initiative of World War II veterans at the site of the bloody battles near Rzhev of 1942-1943. A 25-meter figure of a soldier stands on a high mound near the M-9 highway. The memorial construction project is being implemented by the Russian Military Historical Society with the support of the Union State, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Tver Oblast government and the Victory Museum without resorting to federal funds, but relying on public donations.

Creation of the Rzhev Memorial is part of the government’s plan of key arrangements for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The foundation stone of the future memorial was laid in November 2018. To date, over 282 million rubles of national donations have been raised; about 200 million rubles have been transferred by the Union State. The opening is scheduled for May 2020.
