Belarus will be able to ship up to 3.5 million tonnes of crushed stone to Russia a year. The matter was discussed at the meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State on 8 April, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The issue topical for builders was a difficult one during the discussions. The matter is prosaic, yet very important. It pertains to the supply of crushed stone to Russia. The building material is demanded by the construction industry of Moscow, St. Petersburg and the southern regions of Russia. We have seen the interested response from the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Russian Railways, according to the results of which the forecast for the shipment of up to 3.5 million tonnes of crushed stone to Russia is obvious,” said the state secretary.

The meeting of the High-Level Group was headed by its co-chairpersons, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk. It was also attended by Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State Sergey Strelchenko, heads of the ministries of Belarus and Russia, senior diplomats of the diplomatic missions of the two countries, and senior officials of the Union State's Standing Committee.
