Belarus, Russia urged to reconcile coronavirus containment measures

18:44, 25 March

Belarus and Russia should harmonize coronavirus containment efforts in order to avoid disagreements, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told reporters on 25 March.

He noted that Russian and Belarusian officials remain in close contact with each other in connection with the coronavirus epidemic. “As far as I know, the heads of government, the heads of government agencies and embassies keep in touch over the phone. The issue and particularly the measures to address it affect the interests of the other side. It is clear that the situation needs concerted effort, which will help avoid disagreements,” Grigory Rapota said.

Grigory Rapota emphasized that the striation over coronavirus will inevitably affect the economy of the Union State, however he refrained from projecting the scale of that impact. He noted that it will lead to the drop in trade and supplies of certain commodities.
