Mezentsev called the inauguration of the newly elected President of Belarus a special day for the people of the country.

State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev was among the participants of the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The Secretary of State shared his emotions with the correspondent of the Russia TV channel.

"Belarusians who voted for Alexander Lukashenko made this choice, among other things, because of Belarus' special attitude towards Russia," the State Secretary of the Union State believes. Dmitry Mezentsev also added that the choice was made in favor of supporting a very balanced, consistent, professional and courageous course to counter Western pressure, which Moscow and Minsk have been demonstrating for many years.
"Today is a special day for Belarus, for the Belarusian people. Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko's assumption of office is a confirmation of the course that Belarus has been pursuing for the benefit of people for many, many years," the Secretary of State emphasized.
