The Cup of the Strongest Athletes in Modern Pentathlon Started in Minsk

The Cup of the strongest athletes in modern pentathlon started in Minsk with the participation of the best athletes from Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, BELTA reports.

The competition is being held as part of the final of the international tournament "Pavel Lednev Cup", where 66 best athletes have qualified based on the results of the three previous stages.

The program of the Cup of the Strongest opened with a qualifying round in fencing. The women's semi-final will be held on September 10, and the men's semi-final on September 11. The tournament medals will be awarded on September 12.

Belarus will be represented in the women's event by 16 athletes, including two-time winner of the Lednev Cup Maria Gnedchik, as well as winners of the 2025 World Cup stage Violetta Gureeva and Anastasia Malashenka. In the men's event, 18 Belarusians have been declared, including the current national champion Maksim Maruk and the winner of the recent Union State Cup and U17 world champion Akim Gnedchik.

The competition will be held at the International Standard Swimming Pool, as well as the athletics arena and stadium of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture and Sport.
