Sabalenka to face Svitolina in Australian Open semifinal

The 2026 Australian Open finalists will be determined on 29 January, BelTA has learned.

In the first semifinal, world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will play against Ukraine’s world number 12 Elina Svitolina. In the second semifinal, Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina (World No. 5) will face world number 6 Jessica Pegula of the USA. The women’s final of the season’s first Grand Slam tournament will take place in Melbourne on 31 January. Aryna Sabalenka won the Australian Open in 2023 and 2024 but lost in last year’s final to Madison Keys of the USA.


Tomorrow, in the first men’s semifinal, winner of the last two Australian Open editions, world number two Jannik Sinner of Italy will take on ten-time Australian champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia (World No. 4). In the second match for a spot in the final, world number one Carlos Alcaraz of Spain will play against Germany’s Alexander Zverev (World No. 3). The men’s final will be held on 1 February.
