Sabalenka makes French Open quarterfinals

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remains undefeated at this year's Grand Slam after a straight-sets victory over former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, BelTA has learned.

No.2 seed Aryna Sabalenka moved past Sloane Stephens (world No. 30) (7-6 (5), 6-4 and advanced to her first French Open quarterfinal. The match lasted for 1 hour 42 minutes.

Aryna Sabalenka will face Elina Svitolina of Ukraine for a place in the semifinals.

Aryna Sabalenka saw off Ukraine's world No. 39 Marta Kostyuk 6-3, 6-2, in the opener, overcame a spirited effort by fellow Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (world No.214) to prevail 7-5, 6-2 in the second round and Russia's Kamila Rakhimova (world No. 82) 6-2, 6-2.

The tournament on the Paris courts will end on 11 June.
