NOC president: Belarus is waiting for invitation to 2024 Olympics

Belarus is waiting for an invitation to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko told the media during the Minsk City Day celebrations near the Sport Palace on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

“As for the participation of Team Belarus in the Olympic Games, we have not got an invitation yet. They were supposed to send them out about a month ago, but the International Olympic Committee and the federations still haven't made the decision. We will be waiting,” Viktor Lukashenko said.

One of the draws of the Minsk City Day celebrations near the Sport Palace on 9 September was the International Olympic Day featuring Belarusian champions and medalists of the Olympic Games, winners of international and national tournaments.

The Olympic Day festival comprised about 50 sports and entertainment venues. Visitors could try their hand at basketball, boxing, wrestling, cycling, volleyball, handball, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, golf, rowing, kayaking and canoeing, judo, karate, athletics, roller blading, sambo, tennis, football, fencing and others.
