Belarusian athletes clinch three golds in Moscow

Belarusian athletes took part in the All-Russian Shot Put Event and the All-Russian Pole Vault Festival in Moscow, BelTA learned from Belarusian Athletics Federation.

Oleg Tomashevich took the lead in the shot put with his first attempt, making it 21.65m in his fifth attempt. This is the athlete’s new personal best, a national indoor record, an Olympic standard, and the season’s eighth result in the world and the fourth one in Europe. Yevgeny Brigi of Belarus won bronze with a throw of 19.19m.

At the All-Russian Pole Vault Festival Matvei Volkov of Belarus claimed gold with a 5.83 jump. The result brought the athletes a new personal record and ninth position in the world. Iryna Zhuk of Belarus won the women’s event with a 4.65 jump.

The competitions became the final events for the Belarusians in this winter season.
