On 1 February, the Russian Ministry of Sport introduced an amendment to the regulations on the Winter Spartakiad, which allows Belarusian athletes to take part in the tournament. According to the resolution of Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Belarusian sports delegation, including coaches, experts, team managers and officials, will participate in the Spartakiad.
The Belarusian athletes' performance will be recorded in the unofficial protocol without the overall team standings. The Belarusian representatives ranking top three will be awarded only flowers and diplomas of the Spartakiad participant, not medals.
The 2024 Russian Winter Spartakiad of Best Athletes opening ceremony will be held in Chelyabinsk on 9 February. The tournament will run until 18 February and be hosted by the cities of Zlatoust, Magnitogorsk, Tyumen, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg and Sochi. Over 2,500 athletes will compete in 107 medal events in 14 sports.
