Belarus’ Shymanovich sixth in 100m Breaststroke, earns Olympic berth

Belarusian athletes are taking part as neutrals in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, the capital of Qatar, BelTA has learned

Belarus’ Ilya Shymanovich finished sixth in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke. His time of 59.35 enabled the athlete to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ilya Shymanovich became the third Belarusian swimmer to earn the Olympic berth. Earlier, Alina Zmushka clocked the necessary time in the Women 100m Breaststroke. Last year Anastasiya Shkurdai secured Olympic qualification in the 100m and 200m backstroke.

The Men 100m Breaststroke podium in Doha was graced by Nic Fink of the United States, Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi, and Adam Peaty of the UK.Ilya Shymanovich will compete in the Men 50m Breaststroke on 13 February. The 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Qatar will be over on 18 February.
