Belarus’ Golovatsiuk claims 500m bronze at Russian Winter Spartakiad

Russia’s Chelyabinsk is hosting the speed skating event as part of the 2024 Russian Winter Spartakiad of Best Athletes, BelTA has learned.

The Women’s 500m was followed by the Men’s 500m event, where leader of the Belarusian national team Ignat Golovatsiuk clocked 35.31 seconds to finish third behind Pavel Kulizhnikov (35.14) and Ruslan Murashov (35.15), both from Krasnodar Territory and world champions.
As for other Belarusian athletes’ performance in the race, Artsiom Chaban placed 9th with 35.86, Uladzislau Hapon – 15th with 36.47, and Viktar Rudenka – 17th with 36.48 among 39 participants. Earlier, Hanna Damaratskaya of Belarus clinched the Women’s 500m bronze in 38.67 seconds. Belarus’ Ekaterina Sloeva finished 7th with 39.53 among 35 participants.
The program on 14 February will include the women’s 3000m and the men’s 5000m.
Skaters will compete in the 1000m and the team event on 15 February; the 1500m on 16 February; the women’s 5km and the men’s 10km on 17 February; and mass starts on 18 February.
