Belarus claim 12 medals at 2025 Russian Swimming Cup

Belarusian athletes won 12 medals at the first stage of the 2025 Russian Swimming Cup in Kaliningrad, BelTA has learned

Alesia Akinchyts placed third in the women’s 800m freestyle to secure Belarus’ 12th medal at the two-day event. Belarus won a total of seven gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Alina Zmushka became a three-time champion, clinching victories in the women’s 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 200m medley.

Anastasiya Shkurdai claimed gold medals in the women’s 100m and 200m backstroke events, and also took silver in the women’s 50m backstroke. Anastasiya Kuliashova collected gold in the women’s 100m butterfly and silver in the women’s 50m butterfly. Ivan Shamshurin won the men’s 200m butterfly. Kanstantsin Kurachkin secured silver in the men’s 1,500m freestyle. Aliaksei Rylko touched in third in the men’s 200m medley.

A total of 13 Belarusian athletes competed at the opening stage of the 2025 Russian Swimming Cup in Kaliningrad. Belarus placed on top of the medal table, leaving behind the teams from 19 Russian regions. The second stage of the event is set to take place in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in late April.
