Such a briefing allows communicating Belarus’ position to international media outlets. This press event is expected to help the international community build a better understanding of what is going on in Belarus, the State Border Committee noted.
During the briefing, the journalists were shown videos depicting illegal acts of Lithuanian border guards against foreigners. These video materials included the footage that had not been released by the State Border Committee before. In addition, the journalists were given an opportunity to talk to an Iraqi citizen who was taken to Voronovo District Hospital for treatment after the Lithuanian side took him to the border and used force to make him illegally cross the border with Belarus.
“After talking to the refugee, the journalists said they would like to visit the border area. The State Border Committee agreed. The Lida border unit was the closest to them. When the journalists were taken there, they were able to see the first meters of the Belarusian border, to inspect the border infrastructure, to talk to the head of the border unit and ask questions,” the State Border Committee noted.
Representatives of the State Border Committee put out all the necessary facts and tried to give answers to the pressing questions of the journalists.
