Belarus hands over capsules with soil from war graves to Russia

A solemn ceremony to place capsules containing soil from war graves of Soviet soldiers in the territory of Belarus took place in the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces in Moscow Oblast, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

Taking part in the ceremony were Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko, Defense Attache of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia Colonel Yevgeny Artemenko, and Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The ceremony to place the capsules was held within the framework of the military and patriotic campaign “Handful of Memory” timed to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

As many as 6,807 war graves have been found in Belarus so far.
