Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Maxim Ryzhenkov said in an interview with "Izvestia" that Russia would always occupy a key place in the foreign policy of Belarus.

"Russia will always occupy the most key place", Ryzhenkov emphasised. - Today, due to the conditions we are in, these relations are at the peak of their development, which allows us to move as quickly as possible along the path of mutual integration", the minister noted.

He reminded that a lot of import substitution and innovative development programmes are being implemented today, which create a strong economic base for both countries.

"It is impossible to imagine the development of virtually any sector of our economy without Russia. The year 2020 showed Belarus who its real partners are, and who has always looked at the country as a tidbit either from an economic point of view or from the point of view of its resource base and realisation of its geopolitical ambitions", Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed.
